Marine debris recycling activities

A total of 65 people, including employees and family members of our group, as well as employees of Munakata City, conducted a beach cleanup on the coast around the Okitsu Shrine Harukaisho of Munakata Taisha, a world heritage site on Oshima, Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. We collected approximately 100 kg of marine debris such as fishing gear and plastic bottles.
Approximately 40 kg of the garbage picked up was plastic. This collected marine plastic waste was jointly converted into oil by Kankyo Energy Co., Ltd. and our group company Chemical Recycle Japan Co., Ltd., producing over 30L of produced oil, of which 15L was delivered to Munakata City.
This initiative was undertaken as part of our corporate citizenship activities to leverage the strengths of our group's people in response to the growing importance and social needs of further promoting the recycling of plastic Resources.

Cleaning activity

Idemitsu Lubricants Philippines, established in 2018 as a lubricant sales company in the Philippines, is engaged in corporate citizenship activities rooted in the community.
Following the tree-planting activity held in Tanay, Rizal Province in 2021, 23 employees of Idemitsu Lubricants Philippines participated in December 2022 at Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach along Roxas Avenue, near downtown Manila. We conducted a marine debris cleanup activity. This activity aims to improve the water quality of Manila Bay and raise awareness of beach care. After learning about the history of Manila Bay and how this cleanup program started, we conducted a cleanup activity.
From fiscal 2023 onward, we will continue our activities aimed at contributing to the region through conservation and restoration of the natural environment.

Forest regeneration activities in Indonesia

Idemitsu Lub Techno Indonesia, which was established in 2004 as a lubricant manufacturing and sales company in Indonesia, has regularly conducted corporate citizenship activities.
Starting in fiscal 2022, we will be working with the local NGO OISCA Indonesia to plant mangroves on the northern coast of Java Island. In this area, mangrove forests have been cut down for shrimp farming, which has had an impact on fishing and other activities, so we are working with the local community to restore the forests. In fiscal 2022, we planted 10,000 seedlings in an area of 1 hectare.
We will continue to carry out activities rooted in countries and regions that contribute to the restoration of the natural environment.
