External evaluation

In 2022, Idemitsu Kosan was included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for the first time. This index is the world's leading ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) investment index, and selects companies that have been evaluated as having excellent ESG responses.

In 2022, we were selected as a constituent stock of the FTSE Blossom Japan Index for the first time. This index is an ESG (environmental, social, and governance) investment index for Japanese companies, and selects companies that are evaluated as having excellent ESG practices. This index has also been adopted by Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

In 2022, we became a constituent of the FTSE Blossom Japan Sector Relative Index. This index reflects the performance of Japanese companies with excellent ESG practices relative to each other in each sector. In order to promote the transition to a low-carbon economy, companies that are evaluated for their improvement efforts in sectors with high greenhouse gas emissions are included. This index has also been adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

In 2024, we were selected as a constituent stock of MSCI Nihonkabu ESG Select Leaders Index. This index is an ESG investment index provided by MSCI (Morgan Stanley Capital International) of the United States, and companies with relatively high ESG evaluations within each industry are selected from among the constituent stocks of the parent index (MSCI Nihonkabu IMI Index). This index has also been adopted by the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF).

Our company has been selected as a "2025 Nadeshiko Brand", jointly selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Stock Exchange, as a company that excels in promoting women's participation in the workforce. This is the third consecutive year that our company has been selected.
The company was recognized for its proactive approach to employing women, including its management's commitment to increasing the proportion of women in the manufacturing department, as well as for its implementation of "Cross-mentoring program" programs with other companies for female managers.

In 2023, we became the first company to receive the highest rating in the DBJ Health Management Ratings loan provided by the Development Bank of Japan, Inc. (DBJ). The company was rated as ''particularly outstanding in its efforts to take into consideration employee health'' for its efforts to promote autonomous health of employees, improve internal engagement, and develop measures that lead to the creation of new value.

In fiscal 2024, we were selected as the No. 1 outstanding company in the energy division (out of 21 companies) in the "Selection of Excellent Disclosure Companies by Securities Analysts" conducted by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan. The quality, quantity, and timing of our disclosure were evaluated based on five evaluation criteria, including the management's IR attitude, the function of the IR department, disclosure of explanatory materials, fair disclosure, and disclosure of ESG-related information.

Our company has been certified as a "2025 Health and Productivity Management Excellent Corporation (Large Corporation Category)" by the Japan Health Conference.
This certification demonstrates that our company values the health of its employees and is implementing effective health management measures.
Going forward, we will continue to enhance our systems and measures to support the health of each and every employee, aiming to further improve health management.

For the second consecutive year, Idemitsu has received the highest rating of "Gold" in the "PRIDE Index 2024," which evaluates LGBTQ+ initiatives in the workplace. In this awards program organized by the general incorporated association work with Pride, Idemitsu was recognized for its efforts in internal community activities, including the launch of the "Idemitsu Ally Community" in 2024, which aims to raise awareness of sexual diversity, including LGBTQ+, in addition to the existing initiatives to promote understanding among employees and the operation of a same-sex partner marriage system.

In 2024, we were the first to receive the "Eruboshi" certification (second level) under the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare's system of certifying companies with outstanding initiatives for promoting women's participation in the workforce. We achieved this by meeting the certification criteria in terms of the ratio of female managers and hiring ratios, etc.

Our company obtained DX certification (certification by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry) on April 1, 2021. Our efforts have been recognized as DX-Ready, a state in which companies are ready to digitally transform their businesses.

We analyzed our company's issues, considered specific measures, and formulated an action plan to support the success of our employees who aim to balance work and family. Additionally, in 2012 and 2015, we were certified by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as a child-rearing support company, and received the next-generation certification mark "Kurumin.''
