Aichi Complex | Site Overview

Its area is 2.07 million square meters, equivalent to 43 Nagoya Domes. In consideration of the environment and safety of local residents, unlike ordinary Complex, all of the equipment is located on the sea side and the tanks on the mountain side.

There is a sea berth 9km offshore from Complex, where 300,000-ton tankers can be docked. Crude oil is discharged into the tanks via an undersea pipeline at a rate of approximately 10,000 kL per hour.

The unloaded crude oil is stored in crude oil tanks. Aichi Complex has 25 crude oil tanks with a storage capacity of approximately 2 million kL. This is equivalent to 3 to 4 days' worth of stockpiles in Japan.

As the largest land shipping base in Japan, as many as 1,000 tankers come and go every day. Petroleum products such as gasoline are delivered directly to customer and service station.

The No. 3 power plant generates electricity using heavy fuel oil produced at Complex and supplies it to the wholesale electricity market. Its generating capacity is 250,000 kilowatts, equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by approximately 500,000 average households.
