Tokuyama Refinery (now Tokuyama Complex) started operations in 1957 (Showa 32) as Idemitsu's first Refinery. In addition, in 1964 (Showa 39), the Idemitsu Petrochemical Tokuyama Plant (currently Idemitsu Kosan Tokuyama Complex) was completed adjacent to Refinery, and we began supplying ethylene to Shunan Complex companies. At the end of March 2014, we suspended our crude oil processing function in accordance with the Act on the Advancement of Energy Supply Structure, and now we maintain our function as a logistics base for petroleum products and strive to ensure a stable supply of crude oil as a production base for petrochemicals and a supply of raw materials to the Shunan Complex.
Furthermore, we are developing technologies with the aim of becoming a petrochemical complex with the highest level of competitiveness in Asia.
