Start of "once-a-week secondment program" with Nagato Yumoto Onsen Machi Co., Ltd. - Contribute to regional revitalization by demonstrating employees' abilities and individuality -

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shunichi Kito; hereinafter, "the Company") NagatoながとYumotoゆもと Starting in October, we will be fully launching a "Weekly Secondment Program" in which our employees will be seconded one day a week to Nagato Yumoto Onsenmachi Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture; CEO: Ito Shuichi), a company that is working to develop sustainable tourism in hot spring areas.

This initiative aims to utilize the experience and skills of the seconded employees to contribute to solving problems and improving operations in the Nagato Yumoto Onsen area. In addition, the aim is for employees to feel a sense of engagement and growth by working with a variety of people in an environment different from their usual work environment, and for them to have an opportunity to think about their future life careers.
We conducted a trial for six months from April to September of this year, and decided to fully launch the program after determining that the experience and skills that our employees have cultivated would lead to contributions to the local community and would also lead to new working styles that make use of our employees' careers.

To mark the start of this initiative, a "weekly secondment" to Nagato Yumoto Onsenmachi Co., Ltd. was decided upon through "syu4syain.com"*, a platform for promoting multiple careers for companies provided by CO Medical Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Ryo Seidei).

  • syu4syain.com:
    A corporate second career support service aimed primarily at seniors. In particular, by promoting opportunities for "interdisciplinary matches" and "cross-border learning" in rural areas, the company is strengthening the promotion of regional multiple careers and regional revitalization.

[Other major initiatives for “exercising abilities and individuality”]

  • 「週1先生プログラム」
    千葉県 松戸市教育委員会と連携し、市内の中学校に当社の社員を週1回派遣。自らの経験やスキルを生かしながら、特別授業の実施や通常授業のサポート、教職員の働き方改革や業務効率化等の学校教育に関わるさまざまな課題に取り組む。「他流試合」「越境学習」の取り組みの1つ。

  • Job festival:
    The event was held at the head office in July this year, and 43 departments and affiliated companies introduced their departments. Approximately 500 employees participated. An introduction was also given about the "Weekly Secondment Program" that was being held this time.

  • Career Challenge:
    A system where departments seeking human resources post internal job openings and employees voluntarily apply for them, leading to transfers. The purpose is to provide an opportunity to reexamine career plans, encourage autonomous career development, and increase engagement satisfaction. The system started in fiscal 2020, and 100 positions were recruited in fiscal 2022.
