Overview

The Idemitsu Art Award (Former the Shell Art Award) was established in 1956 to support young future leading artists and is open to all artists aged 40 or younger. This art award is highly evaluated as a “gate to success for young artists” and boasts a long history as a prize in the completely open competition, which was highly unusual at the time of its establishment.

About the logo

Energy Fills the Canvas

While the canvas is where talent is expressed, this logo expresses the creative energy filling the canvas when young artists are inspired by the Award.

The energy will transcend the canvas and infuse society - touching people, stimulating creativity, enlivening communities - thereby engendering new cultural activities. It is a form of aesthetic sustainability that revitalizes the Earth.

From canvas to observer to the future,
the energy of young artists energizes society.
The logo was designed to reflect this phenomenon.
