Idemitsu Art Award 2023

The "Shell Art Award" for young artists who will lead the next generation has changed its name to the "Idemitsu Art Award" and started anew in 2022, keeping the same spirit.
We are looking forward to your energetic and ambitious works.

Qualification requirements

Those who can process, ship, and return within Japan (regardless of nationality), and those who are under 40 years old as of March 31, 2023.

Solicited works

A two-dimensional work that can be hung and displayed using a wire. Three-dimensional sculptures, videos, and collaborative works are not permitted. New works created after 2021 that have not been selected for other public exhibitions.

Work size = 162.0cm x 162.0cm (S100) or less / Work thickness and weight = 15cm, up to 30kg.

  • Under 25 years old: Those born after April 1, 1997

  • All exhibitors will receive one catalog and two tickets.

Grand Prix: 1 point, prize money of 3 million yen
Jury Award: 5 points, 300,000 yen each
Special student award: 1 to 2 points, 100,000 yen each
Selected: 40-50 points
Audience Award: 1 point

  • Prizes include withholding tax.

  • Prize details, points, and prize amounts are subject to change.

Please apply according to 1 to 3 below.

1. How to enter

Please enter using one of the methods below. After receiving your application, we will send you a set of application documents.

(1) Fill out the entry form below and apply. Please submit a copy of your proof of age on the form.

(2) Please fill out the following information and send by mail along with a copy of a certificate that confirms your age.

2. Entry period

May 30, 2023 (Tuesday) - August 25, 2023 (Friday)

3. Payment of listing fee

(1) Payment method: Please be sure to pay using the designated "payment slip" enclosed with the "application document set". We cannot accept refunds after payment.
(2) Payment period: Strictly from July 8, 2023 (Saturday) to September 8, 2023 (Friday)

About loading and unloading works

For details, please refer to the documents enclosed in the "Application Document Set".

Delivery period

■Delivery and delivery date: September 14th (Thursday) to September 15th (Friday), 2023

■Direct delivery date: Saturday, September 16th, 2023 to Sunday, September 17th, 2023, 10:00-16:00 (punctual)

Unloading period

■Unselected works delivery date: October 14th (Sat) - 15th (Sun), 2023, 10:00 - 16:00 (punctual)

■Delivery date of award-winning/selected works: January 13, 2024 (Sat) 10:00-16:00 (punctual)
