Tokuyama Complex | Environmental Initiatives
Tokuyama Complex started operations in 1957 (Showa 32) as a lush "park factory" with a green belt surrounding it. This was 10 years before the Basic Law for Pollution was promulgated, and the plant was a pioneer in greening and beautifying factories in Japan. The plant has also always implemented environmental measures that were ahead of the times, such as reducing benzene, a harmful substance in gasoline, and reducing the sulfur content of diesel fuel, which is necessary to reduce exhaust gas from diesel vehicles. The plant also strives to reduce the environmental impact at the manufacturing and distribution stages, and has been certified with ISO14001, an international standard for environmental management. While using this as one of the evaluation criteria, the plant is also implementing its own stricter measures.
Idemitsu Group's environmental vision

In September 2010, it was certified as a "Socially and Environmentally Contributing Green Space'' for the first time in Yamaguchi Prefecture under the "Socially and Environmentally Contributing Green Space Evaluation System (SEGES)'' operated by the Urban Greening Foundation.
We have planted 57,000 trees Complex, and the green belt that stretches from east to west of the site is not only a symbol of Tokuyama Complex, but also a special feature that can be seen from the Shinkansen window to soothe the hearts of passengers. Masu.
This green belt is also effective as a buffer green zone to prevent noise from disturbing local residents. The 21st century is said to be the "century of the environment,'' and Idemitsu Kosan will continue to value harmony with the natural environment.
A green Complex
As a company that supplies energy and petroleum-related products, the Idemitsu Group takes advanced initiatives to address environmental issues through its business, contributes to the creation of a prosperous society that is in harmony with the global environment, and becomes a company trusted by society. This is what we are aiming for.
Initiatives to save energy
Idemitsu began full-scale energy conservation activities following the first oil crisis in 1974. Initially, the aim was to make effective use of Resources and reduce costs, but after the Earth Summit in 1991, the aim of preventing global warming was added. We have set an annual goal of reducing energy consumption per unit by 1% or more, and have pushed operational and equipment improvements to the limit. In recent years, we have made full use of the latest computer control and analysis technologies to tackle more advanced measures and have steadily achieved our goals.
