Nippon Broadcasting Podcast "Kazuo Ishikawa's Thorough Explanation: Learn SAF Knowledge from the Beginning" now available!
As part of ACT FOR SKY's activities, Nippon Broadcasting System has planned a special podcast program called "Ishikawa Kazuo's Thorough Explanation: Learn SAF Knowledge from the Beginning." Ishikawa Kazuo, a former Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry bureaucrat and policy analyst with extensive knowledge of domestic and international energy situations, interviews people involved in the practical aspects of SAF at companies working to promote it, such as airlines and energy supply companies like Idemitsu Kosan, to thoroughly explore what SAF is, its current status, challenges, and future possibilities.
Idemitsu Kosan's Toyotsu, who is leading the SAF project in the CNX Strategy Department, appeared on the show. He answered questions from Ishikawa and host Manami Sasaki, and introduced the legume "pongamia," which has potential as an ingredient for SAF. Seeing pongamia for the first time, Ishikawa and Sasaki were amazed and gave a report that really captured the audience's imagination. Furthermore, when asked about the potential for pongamia, which is not suitable for human consumption, to be used not only as an ingredient for SAF but also for a variety of other purposes, such as wood pellets for biomass power generation, they nodded in amazement, saying, "I thought pongamia was interesting" (Sasaki) and "It's rare to find something that's four times the fun of one grain" (Ishikawa).
