Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shunichi Kito; hereinafter "Idemitsu Kosan"), Tanegashima Oil Co., Ltd. (Head office: Nishinoomote City, Kagoshima Prefecture; President and CEO: Shingo Yamashita; hereinafter "Tanegashima Oil"), and Minamitane Town, Kumage District, Kagoshima Prefecture (Mayor: Kozono Hiroyasu; hereinafter "Minamitane Town") have begun a joint demonstration project at Minamitane Town Hall today, April 3rd, to supply electricity to the town hall through a small-scale on-site PPA *1 and charge EVs. The joint demonstration project will utilize the separate electricity supply system "IDEPASS™" and the EV charging system "Renewable Energy Choice™" developed by Idemitsu Kosan to supply electricity derived from renewable energy (solar power) to the Minamitane Town Hall building and provide standard EV charging under a pay-as-you-go system.

1. On-site PPA:
A type of power purchase agreement, in which solar power generation equipment owned by the PPA operator is installed on the roofs of users' premises, offices, factories, etc., and electricity is supplied.

EV charger equipped with “Renewable Energy Choice”
南種子町は2022年9月に「南種子町ゼロカーボンシティ宣言 」を行い、2050年までに温室効果ガス（CO₂）の排出量を実質ゼロにする「ゼロカーボンシティ」を目指すことを表明しました。今回の共同実証はその取り組みの一環であり、南種子町役場の敷地内に太陽光発電パネルを設置し、太陽光由来の電力を活用することによるCO₂の排出削減を実証します。
実証にあたっては、本年3月29日に出光興産が発表 した再エネ電力分別供給システム「IDEPASS」を活用し、オンサイトPPAで発電した再エネ電力を南種子町庁舎の一部に選択的に供給します。あわせて、種子島石油が役場内で管理・運用するEV用普通充電器で、再エネ電力および系統から送電された再エネ以外の電力を公用EVなどに充電します。今回設置した普通充電器は、従来主流であった時間単位の課金制（充電量に依らず、充電時間によって一律に課金）ではなく、充電量に比例する従量課金制です。また、出光興産が開発したEV充電システム「再エネチョイス」を活用し、EVユーザーが自ら再エネでの充電を選択できます。従量課金制による普通充電、そしてユーザーが再エネを選択できる充電は、国内において先行事例がほとんどなく、ユーザーニーズに合致した価格設定※2が可能となります。当該充電器は一般の方にもご利用いただけます。

2. Compared to quick charging, the unit price is cheaper. Users can set the required charging amount and the price.
The demonstration is scheduled to last four years and will examine the business feasibility of small-scale on-site PPA, CO₂ emission reduction through the use of renewable electricity, customer satisfaction and business feasibility of pay-as-you-go charging, etc. Through these verifications, Idemitsu Kosan, Tanegashima Oil, and Minamitane Town aim to promote local production and consumption of low-carbon energy and create optimal services for EV users and local charging business operators.
