Burnett Mary Regional Group (“BMRG”), Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (“Idemitsu Kosan”) and J-Oil Mills Co., Ltd. (“J-Oil Mills”) Originally, efforts were made to fix CO2 by planting pongamia, a non-edible oil source tree, in the state, and to build a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) supply chain by securing plant raw materials from afforestation. We have recently agreed to work together on this study (hereinafter referred to as this study).

There is a growing social demand for a stable supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) as a concrete measure to reduce CO2 emissions in the aviation industry. SAF is manufactured from non-fossil-derived raw materials, but there are multiple technological processes and raw materials, and one of the challenges is securing raw materials that have little competition with edible crops. Under these circumstances, the legume ``pongamia'', which is distributed in Southeast Asia and Oceania, is a non-edible oil source tree with high oil yield efficiency, and is expected to be used as a raw material for SAF.

Idemitsu Kosan and J-Oil Mills announced on February 1, 2023 that they will work together to consider building a biomass business, such as SAF production by securing bio raw materials, plastic recycling, and the use of biochemicals, in order to realize a circular economy. It was announced on the day. As part of this effort, we have reached an agreement to begin this study with BMRG, which manages a wide range of natural Resources in Queensland, including afforestation, cultivation, and harvesting.

In the future, we will consider planting and management of Pongamia, CO2 fixation and offset through plantation, building SAF supply chain (harvesting, oil extraction, transportation, SAF production), forestry investment, etc. We aim to start cultivation demonstration.

BMRG is a leading natural Resources management organization within the Burnett Mary region of Queensland. One of Australia's 54 not-for-profit community organizations, since its establishment in 2001, Burnett Mary has connected the Burnett Mary community with a variety of government programs. BMRG's vision is to "pass on the agriculture and natural environment of the Burnett Mary region to the next generation and improve it," and to this end we are building strong relationships with the Australian Federal Government, the Queensland Government, and local governments. Building.

Under our Vision for 2030, `` Your Reliable Partner for a Brighter Future,'' and Vision for 2050, `` Shaping Change is committed to providing a stable supply of energy, mainly fossil fuels including Petroleum, while providing a diverse range of energy sources. We are working on provide for society of environmentally friendly, low-carbon energy, Resources saving and recycling solutions. As part of this, we are planning to build a green supply chain for biomass-derived fuels and chemicals such as SAF, biodiesel, and biochemicals by 2030. Furthermore, by leveraging the business foundation we have cultivated through approximately 40 years of coal mine operations in Australia, we will continue to actively contribute to the country's energy transition and work to create low-carbon and decarbonized businesses. .

J-Oil Mills is striving to achieve Medium-term Management Plan "Transforming for Growth" by fiscal 2026 under the vision of "Joy for Life ®- Bringing joy to the future through food." By extracting value, we aim to realize "deliciousness x health x low impact" and are developing a wide range of businesses centered on edible oil and fat products. Furthermore, we have positioned "reducing environmental impact" as one of materiality (key challenges), and aim to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% (Scope 1, 2) compared to fiscal 2013 by fiscal 2030, and achieve zero carbon emissions by fiscal 2050. I'm holding neutral.
