Regarding the termination of FURUSATO PROJECT
Since 2018, Idemitsu Kosan has been implementing the "FURUSATO PROJECT" at elementary schools throughout Japan, which includes performances and hands-on learning sessions on traditional Japanese instruments by Japanese instrument players, as well as commemorative cherry tree planting.
From 2018 to 2025, the event was held at 44 schools nationwide, allowing 9,029 elementary school students to enjoy traditional Japanese musical instruments, and 59 cherry trees were planted as a commemorative event.
Our company considers "culture," which fosters richness of spirit, as one of the pillars of our corporate citizenship activities. Through experiential learning of traditional musical instruments and cherry tree planting, we have implemented this project with the hope that it will cultivate an interest in and appreciation for traditional Japanese culture, and that it will foster a spirit of passing on the wonderfulness of our "hometown" to future generations.
In light of these objectives, we believe we have achieved a certain level of success, and therefore, we have decided to conclude our activities in fiscal year 2025.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those involved, including elementary schools throughout the country, for their tremendous cooperation.
Furthermore, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the teachers and all those involved who provided guidance and coordination on a daily basis in the implementation of this project.
Going forward, we will continue to support next-generation environmental education, with a view to developing new forms of educational support activities.
