Power Development
We develop a variety of power sources and operate power plants, including renewable energies such as solar, biomass, wind, and geothermal *, as well as highly competitive natural gas-fired power. The Idemitsu Kosan Group's history in renewable energy began with the search for energy alternatives to oil in the 1970s in response to the oil crisis. Through the changes of the times, we are now positioning renewable energy as an important power source for realizing carbon neutrality society, and are working to popularize and expand it both domestically and internationally.

Wind-power generation
We operate wind power plants equipped with storage batteries in collaboration with other companies.

Thermal power generation
In Japan, we use former crude oil storage facilities to operate highly efficient thermal power plants that use natural gas, which has a lower environmental impact than oil or coal. Overseas, we have invested in two thermal power plants.
