"apollostation Type Green" is an environmentally friendly service station (hereinafter referred to as "SS") that uses domestic timber and is equipped with solar panels. The first Tokyo store, "Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui," has opened in Tachikawa City, Tokyo. apollostation Type Green, which has been deployed since 2022, now has a total of 11 stores nationwide ^*1, and the company aims to open 30 stores by fiscal 2025.

"Tachikawa City, Tokyo, where the Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui is located, is an area rich in nature, including Showa Memorial Park and the Tamagawa Josui Greenway. We opened this environmentally friendly service station to match the scenery of the area and the needs of its residents," says Miyauchi of the Kanto First Branch Sales Division 1, who supported the opening of the service station and is also in charge of future promotional activities.

Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui is the industry's first wooden-built ^*2 gas station in Tokyo, using domestic timber for its canopy roof and sales room. "We want to use domestic timber as much as possible and contribute to the promotion of domestic forestry. We are promoting the development of Type Green, hoping that this will contribute to the provision of value to solving social issues such as global warming."

Japan is one of the world's most forested countries, with forests covering about two-thirds of the country's land area. Lush forests play a variety of roles, including absorbing CO2, storing water sources, preventing landslides, and conserving biodiversity. To cultivate healthy forests, it is essential to carry out appropriate thinning, cut down trees as they grow, and plant new ones in a cycle that involves this. In other words, using grown trees as lumber helps protect forests.

Another feature of the Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui is the solar power generation panels installed on the roof of the sales room. "If the weather is good, we expect to be able to generate all the electricity needed to operate the service station through our own power generation. By using domestic timber and renewable energy, we have created an environmentally friendly service station."

"The Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui combines safety and environmental measures on a limited site area. We will make it a model store for expanding Type Green in urban areas, with an eye toward expanding to various other regions in the future," says Miyauchi, explaining its significance.

Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui has begun a new journey as apollostation Type Green. "Idemitsu Kosan's gas stations have the slogan 'All kinds of a! in this town,' and are evolving to meet the needs of the local community, giving customers that aha! (Ah!) and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that aha! (Ah!) is a pleasant surprise. The area around Smart Eco Station Tamagawa Josui is rich in nature, including parks, and is home to many elderly people and families with small children. We aim to be an environmentally friendly gas station that matches the natural surroundings and is beloved by the local community."

By evolving apollostation across the country into lifestyle support hub that solve social issues in each region, we aim to maintain local infrastructure and realize carbon neutrality society.
