Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. ("Idemitsu Kosan"; Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shunichi Kido) is pleased to announce its strategic investment and partnership with Jet Zero Australia (CEO: Edward Mason; "Jet Zero"), a leading company in the promotion of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production in Queensland, Australia, and beyond. This marks Idemitsu Kosan's first venture into an overseas SAF production project, signaling a significant step towards establishing a stable global SAF supply system through strategic knowledge acquisition and supply chain development.

Jet Zero is at the forefront of SAF production and raw material project initiatives in Australia, currently managing multiple projects in Australia.

Among them, PJ Ulysses project ('PJ Ulysses')which aims to transform agricultural by-products into 102 million liters of SAF annually is the flagship project for Jet Zero. With the backing of Qantas Airways, Airbus, and the Queensland State Government among others, PJ Ulysses is set to become operational in 2027.

The collaboration between Idemitsu Kosan, Jet Zero, Qantas Airways, Airbus, and other partners focuses on the early implementation of SAF in Australia and the establishment of a comprehensive supply chain. As a strategic partner, Idemitsu Kosan will extend its efforts in securing a stable supply of SAF raw materials and share its extensive plant operation expertise for joint development projects.

In alignment with the Japanese government and the aviation industry's goal to replace 10% of jet fuel with SAF by 2030, Idemitsu Kosan is committed to developing a domestic supply system capable of 500,000 kilo liters of SAF annually. This initiative in Australia is a strategic move to gather essential knowledge and form partnerships, aiming to contribute to a robust global SAF supply chain in response to future demand increases.
