We are now accepting submissions for the 19th Environmental Photo Contest- Give us an opportunity to think about the SDGs through photo and comment submissions - Target: Current students at elementary, junior high, high and technical colleges Application period: July 3rd to September 29th

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Shunichi Kito) is holding the 19th Environmental Photo Contest for children and students as part of its corporate citizenship activities related to the development of the next generation and the environment. We will be holding an event titled ``My Town's Circles and Crosses'' and will begin accepting entries from July 3rd.
This contest is a photo contest in which participants submit a pair of photos of a ``○'' landscape that we want to preserve forever, and an ``x'' landscape that we want to improve immediately, and add a comment. . The contest has been held every year since 2005 with the aim of providing children, who will be responsible for the next generation, an opportunity to become familiar with environmental issues through this contest and to increase their awareness of ``awareness, thinking, and action'' on their own.
Last year, 580 schools and 14,259 works were submitted from all over the country, and the cumulative number of entries since the first round exceeded 120,000.
This year again, with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, we aim to contribute to environmental education at schools and the development of the next generation.

◆An opportunity for children and students to think about SDGs and environmental issues and “open up the future with rich imagination”

Many schools are actively incorporating "environmental education and learning" as part of their efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
In this contest, children and students are required to reconsider the casual scenery that they usually overlook from the perspective of the environment, discover issues, and express their intentions in their own words. We believe that by applying to the contest, we can contribute to raising awareness of environmental issues and developing the ability to discover, solve, and communicate problems.
The Special Theme Award, ``Let's do this then'' award, selects works that convey the desire to ``contribute to solving environmental problems in some small way by taking action on one's own initiative'' to encourage children and students to take ownership of environmental issues. We aim to provide an opportunity for action.

◆Can be used on a “school basis” as teaching materials for environmental education or as assignments during summer vacation

This contest is used as a theme for environmental education classes or as a summer vacation project, and many schools participate every year by applying as a group (registration is possible by school, grade, class, club activity, group of friends, etc.). Outstanding efforts among school group applications will be recognized with the school group award, and all school group applicants will receive a commemorative gift for their participation.
