The 26th "FURUSATO PROJECT" was held at Nitta Elementary School in Chita City, Aichi Prefecture.
Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shunichi Kito; hereinafter referred to as "the Company") held the 26th "FURUSATO PROJECT" at Chita City Shinden Elementary School on Friday, December 9th, where they held a Japanese musical instrument performance and experience, as well as a tree planting ceremony.
The "FURUSATO PROJECT" is a project that involves watching and experiencing Japanese musical instruments, as well as a tree planting ceremony. It has been held at elementary schools across the country since 2018, with the aim of supporting the challenges, growth, and ability development of young people who will lead the next generation, as well as providing an opportunity to experience the real thing.
The 26th event was held at Nitta Elementary School in Chita City, Aichi Prefecture, where our Aichi Complex one of our manufacturing bases, is located, and was attended by 318 second, fifth, and sixth graders.
When familiar songs were played, the children clapped along to the rhythm, and when classmates experienced playing Japanese drums, they pretended to play the drums and got excited together. At the tree planting ceremony, as the representative sprinkled the soil on the tree, everyone who was watching shouted out, "Grow big, cherry tree!"
Through this activity, we will continue to provide elementary school students with opportunities to experience traditional Japanese culture, and strive to nurture the next generation, promote culture, and contribute to the local community.
