Easy Brain Checkup at SS. Contributing to the prevention of brain diseases among truck drivers! We will provide brain health checkup services mainly at service station in Kanagawa Prefecture!

"Smart Brain Checkup" is a brain checkup service provided by SmartScan. Idemitsu Kosan and Smart Scan use vehicles equipped with MRI to provide brain checkups in a short time and at a relatively low cost (about half the price of conventional general brain checkup services) even in areas where there are no brain checkup facilities nearby. We are carrying out various initiatives that we can, including offering a limited-time brain health checkup service at an Idemitsu Kosan-affiliated service station in Sanyo-Onoda City, Yamaguchi Prefecture from April to May of this year, and at Hiroshima Airport from June to July. Many people, mainly local residents, visited us.
This time, we will collaborate with East Japan Usami, which operates approximately 240 service stations in the eastern Japan region, to provide brain health examination services centered on two service stations in Kanagawa Prefecture, where truck logistics-related companies are concentrated. It is known that drivers working in the transportation industry are more likely to suffer from brain and heart diseases than those in other industries ^*. By creating opportunities for brain health checkups for truck drivers who frequently use the SS and people living nearby, the SS will contribute to the health maintenance of local customers and become a base that supports a rich lifestyle. We aim to demonstrate new value. This is the first time in Japan that a brain health examination service has been developed at a "truck station" (a service station that handles truck refueling and maintenance).

1. Service development background

Idemitsu Kosan is aiming to transform its business formats and create new business models using digital technology and data, and is promoting the provision of next-generation mobility and community service solutions based on approximately 6,200 service station nationwide. This initiative is based on the concept of making service station "Smart Yorozuya," bases that can flexibly provide a variety of services to address local issues when and where they are needed, and has been developed through collaboration with other companies and local governments that have expertise in developing various services.
Usami Koyu Corporation (Head Office: Tsushima City, Aichi Prefecture; President and CEO: Saburo Usami), which oversees East Japan Usami, is taking advantage of the hidden potential of its gas stations spread across the country, and as a "total life supporter" based on an energy platform, it is creating new value and challenging itself to realize a vibrant future, as stated in its "STEP 2030 Vision."
The two companies agreed to jointly provide this brain health checkup service with the aim of utilizing the SS network and creating new value.

(2) Service content

• We provide brain health examination services using MRI-equipped vehicles installed near the SS or on the SS premises. Anyone can undergo a medical examination.
• Images taken during a health checkup are remotely diagnosed by a specialized radiology and neurosurgeon, and users can check the test results online within one week after the checkup. If any abnormality is found, we will refer you to a local medical institution.
• Reservations, medical interviews, and result confirmation can be done using a smartphone or PC.
  (Visit is required for medical checkup only)
• The health checkup takes about 30 minutes.
