Idemitsu Kosan and Smart Scan enter into capital and business alliance —Towards joint development of mobile health checkup service aiming to spread preventive medicine in the region—

1. Reason for capital and business alliance

The two companies have worked together to create a business that promotes preventive medicine based at service station in response to the important issue of "health" in an aging society, and have demonstrated the provision of vehicle-based brain checkup services. In order to further develop the needs for mobile health checkup services in the region and the synergy with service station that were confirmed through the demonstration, the two companies have now agreed to a capital and business alliance. Going forward, they will work to expand the service nationwide by utilizing Idemitsu Kosan's service station network.
In Medium-term Management Plan review (covering fiscal years 2020-2022) announced in May last year, Idemitsu Kosan set Vision for 2030 as "Your Reliable Partner for a Brighter Future" and has made it its responsibility to contribute to the stable supply of energy and the Smart Yorozuya of social issues. In anticipation of the "aging society," one of the issues facing Japan, one of the company's initiatives to contribute to the formation of next-generation mobility and community is to turn its service station network into a "smart yorozya." Through collaboration with approximately 6,300 affiliated service station and dealers nationwide, partner companies with expertise in the development of various services, and local governments, we aim to evolve and transform service station into "yorozya" of the new era that supports daily life and mobility and enriches the lives of local residents by making them bases that can "flexibly provide various services to address local issues when and where they are needed."
Smart Scan is working to create an environment where anyone can easily receive diagnostic imaging in order to realize a "world free of disease." In addition to producing clinics and providing the "Smart Brain Checkup" service, the company aims to create time for many people to live healthy lives through the development of a sharing economy model business that utilizes the unused time of MRI machines owned by medical facilities to provide "Smart Brain Checkups." To date, the company has produced Medical Check Studio (MCS) Tokyo Ginza Clinic, MCS Shinjuku Clinic, and MCS Osaka Umeda Clinic, and has performed 66,000 tests for the "Smart Brain Checkup" as of the end of January 2022.
