Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer : Shunichi Kito, hereinafter, “the Company”) today opens Chiba-Kita Hydrogen Station in Hanamigawa-ku, Chiba City and starts operation.
The Company has commercialized and been operating Narita Hydrogen Station since 2016 within Narita Airport premises. Chiba-Kita Hydrogen Station, which launches today, is the Company’s second commercial hydrogen station.
The hydrogen station as a joint venture of JHyM(Japan H2 Mobility, LLC) and the Company had been constructing in Hanamigawa-ku, Chiba City, being adopted as a Subsidization Scheme to Promote Hydrogen Stations for Dissemination of FCV’s (the government subsidy program promoting the installation of hydrogen refueling stations (HRS) for commercial use) by Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center.
The Company is considering a wide range of initiatives with the aim of becoming carbon neutral (net-zero carbon emissions). This hydrogen station utilizes electricity from the 100% renewable energy ‘Premium Zero Plan *’ provided by the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary, Idemitsu Green Power Co., Ltd. The Company will accumulate technologies and knowledge of the project through operating hydrogen stations to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society.
*The plan for substantially 100% renewable energy, which is from power sources that consist of renewable energy, including FIT electricity paired with non-fossil fuel energy certificates with tracking information.
Outline of Chiba-Kita Hydrogen Station
