Having greater than 70% of the global market share, Idemitsu is the leading manufacturer of polyalkylene glycol (PAG) oil for automotive air conditioners. With years of experience as a major supplier of mineral oils, Idemitsu's customers naturally counted on us to develop a suitable replacement lubricant for use in their R-134a air conditioning systems.
The chemists at Idemitsu's research center in Chiba, Japan, tested many different oils for the base before ultimately choosing PAG. The research center then worked closely with the Lubricants Division to select the right additives to mix into their formulation. After extensive research and testing at Idemitsu's laboratories, and in conjunction with major automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the Daphne Hermetic PAG series was developed. The products in this line offer superior performance, longevity, and compatibility compared to other PAG products on the market.
