Geothermal power generation

Idemitsu Kosan began its geothermal business in 1996 by conducting geothermal Resources surveys and supplying steam to Kyushu Electric Power Co.'s Takigami Power Plant in Kokonoe, Oita Prefecture. In 2017, the company began independent operation of the Takigami Binary Power Plant. It is currently building a new geothermal power plant in the Oyasu region of Akita Prefecture.
We will continue to work on geothermal Resources exploration and development, as well as the stable operation of geothermal power plants, with the aim of domestic geothermal development that is rooted in the local community.
