Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Kazuhisa Nakano) announces that its subsidiary in the U.K., Idemitsu E&P Shetland Ltd., (President: Mitsuki Matsubara) has discovered an accumulation of crude oil and gas in the Tornado structure in exploration block of P1190 off the Shetland Islands in the U.K., in which the company owns a 10% interest.
The discovery structure is located at a water depth of 1,050 meters, approximately 160 km west of the Shetland Islands in the U.K..
The side-track well will be drilled to confirm the scale of the oil and gas reserve.
Idemitsu acquired a 10% interest in the P1190 block from Faroe Petroleum plc in the U.K., in May 2007.
