IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia rider Takaaki Nakagami wins his first grand prix this season in the Moto2 British Grand Prix

Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Takashi Tsukioka; hereinafter, the “Company”) announces that on August 27 Takaaki Nakagami, a rider with IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia, of which the Company is a main sponsor, won the World Championship of motorcycle road racing (Moto2 class) British Grand Prix, the 12th race of the season.
Supporting Honda Motor Co., Ltd.’s motorsports philosophy “From Asia to the World,” the Company supports riders taking on the challenges of global competition through its sponsorship activities. The Moto2 class is one class in the World Championship of motorcycle road racing, considered the first step toward the top MotoGP class.

Team rider Takaaki Nakagami has stood in the winners’ circle three times already this season, and next season he will start racing in the top MotoGP class. In this British GP, held soon after the announcement of his promotion to the MotoGP class, he started the decisive race in the fourth position, broke free from the pack competing for third place in the middle of the race, and then in the ending moments overtook the leader for his first victory this season. This is the second Moto2-class grand prix victory of his career after winning the Netherlands Grand Prix last season.
