Idemitsu Shokai founded in Moji
The first shipment of the new year

On June 20, 1911, Idemitsu Shokai, the company that would become Idemitsu Kosan, opened and began its oil-sales business in Moji.
Despite an outlook characteristic of that time that placed profits above all else, founder Sazo Idemitsu chose as his philosophy of business "fulfilling our responsibilities to society by linking and working to benefit both producers and consumers, steering clear of speculation and intermediary exploitation."
